Hollowed Lake Superior beach stone to create a bowl shape. This 70 pound object has two orientations, horizontal as a open bowl form or vertical as part of my "empty head" series. The "face" or bottom of the bowl is polished to a blank stare while the hollowed head is symbolic of vacuous man, taking but rare time for thought or introspection. The stone is a mix of diabase with quartz and olivine intrusions. 15" x 12" x 8". NFS
